John Lennon tourism in New York City: Dakota Building and Strawberry Fields
28th May 2006
When I went to Strawberry Fields in Central Park, I saw people in grief, flowers, and candles. There’s no doubt that traveling to New York City to visit the Dakota Building (John Lennon was murdered right outside) and Strawberry Fields (a memorial just a few steps away from the Dakota Building) is an example of grief tourism.
If you’re traveling to New York City and want to visit the Dakota Building, it’s on the Northwest corner of 72nd Street and Central Park West. Strawberry Fields is right across the street, a triangular garden with a mosaic in the middle. The word “IMAGINE” is in the center of the mosaic.
